Transfer News: Kaizer Chiefs announce third player goodbye

Kaizer Chiefs have confirmed the departure of defender Happy Mashiane after both parties agreed to mutually terminate his contract, making him the third player to leave the Soweto giants in the current window following Aden McCarthy and George Matlou. The 28-year-old ends a long association with Amakhosi that began in the club’s development structures, earning promotion to the senior team at the start of 2019 and going on to feature prominently as a versatile left-back. Mashiane was part of the Chiefs squad that reached the CAF Champions League final in 2021 and scored four goals across all competitions for the Glamour Boys, also gaining valuable first-team experience during a loan spell with Siwelele FC in the 2025/26 season.

The Tembisa-born defender made his mark in several important matches during his time at Naturena, primarily operating as a left-back while showing adaptability across the back line. His stint with Siwelele FC allowed him to accumulate further competitive minutes before returning to Chiefs, where he remained until the mutual termination was agreed. The club paid tribute to Mashiane in their official announcement, acknowledging his key role in the 2021 CAF Champions League final run and noting his contributions as a former under-23 international who rose through the ranks from a teenage prospect to a senior squad member.

Mashiane becomes the latest player to exit as Kaizer Chiefs continue reshaping their squad ahead of the 2026/27 Betway Premiership campaign, with the club making clear they are moving to refresh the roster. In their farewell message, Amakhosi expressed sincere thanks for Mashiane’s valuable contribution and wished him
