Title race: Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns remaining fixtures

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are locked in a compelling title race as the 2025/26 Betway Premiership season reaches its climax. The Buccaneers currently lead the standings, but defending champions Masandawana remain within striking distance, trailing by just one point while holding a crucial game in hand. With both sides fighting for supremacy, the upcoming weeks promise to deliver the kind of drama that defines championship football, and their respective fixture lists could prove decisive in determining who lifts the trophy.

Pirates have five matches remaining and will bank a maximum of fifteen points from those contests. Their campaign resumes with a Soweto derby showdown against Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium, followed by trips to Stellenbosch and Magesi, before home fixtures against Durban City and Orbit College. Momentum may have shifted slightly in their favour after Stellenbosch held Sundowns to a 1–1 draw at Loftus Versfeld, snapping the defending champions' ten-match unbeaten run and breathing new life into the title race.

Mamelodi Sundowns, however, hold their destiny firmly in their own hands with six matches to play. Currently on fifty-seven points from twenty-four games, The Brazilians know that winning all remaining fixtures would secure the league title regardless of Pirates' results. Their schedule includes encounters with Richards Bay, Polokwane City twice, Kaizer Chiefs, Siwelele FC, and TS Galaxy. The clash with Chiefs at Loftus Versfeld on May sixth could prove particularly significant, offering another chance to influence outcomes in their favour.
