The Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder was shown a red card for the tackle, which immediately sparked concern among Chiefs supporters as Shabalala struggled to continue. After the match, Adams responded on social media by posting a picture of the Chiefs youngster on Instagram, tagging Shabalala and writing, “Speedy recovery gazi [blood].” The message came shortly after Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef confirmed worrying early signs, stating, “You saw the injury, sometimes we need protection for players,” adding that Shabalala would likely miss one or two months.
