PRASA offering cheap travel to Orlando Pirates match

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) has stepped up to ensure sports fans can reach this weekend’s major fixtures without breaking the bank, offering affordable and reliable train services to stadiums. Group CEO Hishaam Emeran confirmed the initiative, stating the agency aims to be the most affordable mobility partner for South African sports supporters, delivering them safely and on time. With a packed schedule featuring Orlando Pirates, the Bulls, and Mamelodi Sundowns, PRASA is deploying shuttle services across multiple corridors to ease congestion and provide a seamless travel option for matchgoers.

On Saturday, Orlando Pirates take on Durban City at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto, with kick-off set for 15:00. PRASA will run shuttle services from the Midway, Naledi, and Johannesburg corridors, starting at 12:00 on the Johannesburg–Midway route, followed by additional shuttles from 13:15 on the Naledi-New Canada and Midway-New Canada lines, all operating until 19:00. These free or low-cost trains offer a stress-free alternative for Buccaneers supporters heading to the Betway Premiership clash.

The weekend’s sporting action also includes the Bulls facing Benetton Rugby in the United Rugby Championship at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, with a 16:00 kick-off. Rugby fans can board PRASA trains every 20 minutes between 13:00 and 19:30, connecting seamlessly with Gautrain or e-hailing services at Pretoria Station. On Sunday, Mamelodi Sundowns host AS FAR in the first leg of the CAF Champions League final at the same venue. PRASA will run special services from the Saulsville, Pienaarspoort, De Wildt, and Mabopane corridors, with shuttle trains to Loftus Station every 20 minutes from 13:00 to 19:30.
