Orlando Pirates bank over R150 million from Mbokazi, Nkota and Mofokeng

Orlando Pirates have reportedly banked more than R150 million from the sales of just three academy graduates over the past twelve months, a figure that underscores the club’s growing reputation as a conveyor belt of elite talent. Relebohile Mofokeng, Mohau Nkota and Mbekezeli Mbokazi all progressed through the Buccaneers’ youth ranks before breaking into the senior team and securing lucrative moves abroad. Mofokeng’s recent transfer to Belgian Pro League side Royale Union Saint-Gilloise is estimated to be worth between R70 million and R80 million, while Mbokazi’s switch to Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire and Nkota’s move to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ettifaq are each reportedly valued at around R52 million. Combined, the trio have generated well over R150 million, highlighting the success of the club’s investment in youth development.

The financial windfall may not stop there. Bafana Bafana winger Oswin Appollis has attracted foreign interest after another impressive campaign, and should a move materialise, Orlando Pirates could command a further fee in the region of R50 million to R60 million. The club
