Official: Kaizer Chiefs finally announce new coach

Kaizer Chiefs have officially ended weeks of speculation by appointing Fernando Da Cruz as the club’s new head coach, with the French-born tactician set to take charge ahead of the 2026/27 season. The Betway Premiership giants announced that Da Cruz has signed a two-year contract with a one-year option, effective from 1 July 2026. The appointment follows the departure of co-coaches Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, who steered Amakhosi to a third-place finish last season. According to the club, Da Cruz holds a UEFA Pro Licence and previously worked with Chiefs during pre-season two years ago before serving as Technical Director for the Moroccan Football Federation. He will be joined on the technical bench by Egyptian assistant coach Mahmoud Abbas, while Frenchman Julien Le Heran will head the sports science department.
