Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly parted ways with long-serving midfielder Happy Mashiane, bringing a seven-year association with the club to an end. According to SABC Sport, the 28-year-old and Amakhosi mutually agreed not to extend his contract, prompting his exit ahead of the 2026/27 campaign. Mashiane, a product of the club’s youth academy, made 69 appearances across all competitions for Chiefs. Despite early promise, he never fully cemented a regular starting role and often operated on the fringes. His departure follows a loan spell at Siwelele FC during the second half of last season, where he failed to make a significant impact.
Mashiane is not the only player shown the door this offseason. Chiefs have also parted ways with attacking midfielder George Matlou, who joined from Swallows FC in July 2022. The 27-year-old played a role in the squad that ended the club’s long trophy drought by winning the Nedbank Cup during the 2024/25 season. With several changes in personnel, the Naturena outfit appears to be reshaping its squad under new head coach Fernando Da Cruz, who will take charge when players return to training next week.
