Key Kaizer Chiefs star signs sparkling new contract – Report

Kaizer Chiefs are preparing to secure the future of their first-choice goalkeeper, Brandon Petersen, with a sparkling new contract that will extend his stay at Naturena until 2030. The 31-year-old has firmly established himself as the club’s undisputed number one this season, making 22 appearances in the league. According to Goal, reliable sources indicate the two parties have aligned on a fresh two-year agreement, which also includes an option to extend for an additional year. This move underscores Chiefs’ commitment to locking down key personnel after Petersen’s consistent performances between the posts.

While the Glamour Boys solidify their squad, attention shifts to their immediate league ambitions. Following a 1-1 draw with Sundowns, Chiefs know that five more points from their remaining three matches will guarantee third place in the Betway Premiership. Next up is a trip to Sekhukhune on 10 May, with kickoff at 17:30 on DStv channel 202. Three points there would put them within touching distance of CAF Confederation Cup qualification, though midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu will miss the match through suspension after his booking against Sundowns.

Chiefs are aiming to arrest a worrying dip in form that has seen them collect just three points from a possible 12, following an impressive five-match winning streak between March and April. Losses to Siwelele and draws with Polokwane, Orlando Pirates, and Sundowns have slowed their momentum, but they still hold a commanding position. Five more points in their last three matches would give them an unassailable lead over fourth-placed AmaZulu, ensuring the new contract for Petersen is part of a larger push to close out the season on a high.
