Kaizer Chiefs news: new coach, 11 players out?

Despite securing their highest league finish in six years, Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing for a major overhaul of their technical team and playing squad. Under co-coaches Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze, Amakhosi finished third in the Betway Premiership, booking a CAF Confederation Cup spot and returning to the MTN8 after a two-season absence. However, management is expected to reshuffle the coaching department to build a squad capable of challenging for major honours, with former Mamelodi Sundowns coaches Manqoba Mngqithi and Pitso Mosimane emerging as leading candidates for the Naturena hot seat.

Mosimane, repeatedly linked to the Amakhosi job over the years, remains one of the continent’s most respected coaches after his successful spell with Al Ahly. His experience and winning pedigree make him an attractive option, though questions linger over whether the club would meet the financial demands of the former CAF Champions League-winning coach. The potential appointment signals a clear shift in ambition, as Chiefs look to return to competing for domestic and continental silverware after years of falling short of expectations.

Alongside coaching changes, the club is expected to overhaul its playing squad, with up to eleven players potentially heading for the exit. Among those reportedly set to leave are George Matlou, Zitha Kwinika, Bruce Bvuma, Fiacre Ntwari, Gaston Sirino, Khanyisa Mayo, Etiosa Ighodaro, Happy Mashiane, Samkelo Zwane, Paseka Mako, and Ashley du Preez. With significant changes expected both on and off the pitch, Kaizer Chiefs appear determined to usher in a new era as they aim to return to the pinnacle of domestic and continental football.
