Kaizer Chiefs move season finale to a different city

Kaizer Chiefs have relocated their final fixture of the Betway Premiership season from FNB Stadium to Moses Mabhida Stadium. The match against Chippa United on Saturday, 23 May will maintain its scheduled kick-off time of 15:00, marking a deliberate shift in venue for the Glamour Boys' campaign conclusion. This decision reflects the club's growing connection with the Durban-based facility, which has become an increasingly important part of their operational landscape this season.

The Johannesburg-based outfit has already contested three matches at Moses Mabhida across different competitions, establishing a record of two wins and one defeat. Their Durban journey commenced in July 2025 with a Toyota Cup encounter against Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko, a competitive affair that ultimately slipped away on penalties. The experience proved valuable, however, as Kaizer Chiefs returned in February 2026 for a CAF Confederation Cup group stage fixture against Zesco United, where Pule Mmodi's solitary strike delivered a crucial 1–0 victory that strengthened their continental aspirations.

Domestically, the Durban venue has treated Amakhosi considerably well. In March, they registered a composed 2–0 triumph over Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership clash, with Wandile Duba opening the scoring in the first half before Mfundo Vilakazi secured the result late on. Lebohang Maboe's midfield control earned him the Man of the Match accolade. Now, as Kaizer Chiefs prepare to conclude their season against Chippa United at the same venue, they will be looking to add another positive chapter to their established Durban narrative.
