Kaizer Chiefs flop Billiat reveals ridiculous riches at Naturena

Former Kaizer Chiefs attacker Khama Billiat has broken his silence on his earnings during his five-year spell at Naturena, revealing that he was among the club’s highest-paid players. Speaking via Afrik-Foot and Off The Pitch Chat, the Zimbabwean confirmed that his wages matched public reports, stating that the club took excellent care of him financially. “They paid a couple of us very well. I believe Kaizer Chiefs pays everyone very well, and I was one of the highest paid at Kaizer Chiefs compared to a lot of other teams,” Billiat said. He joined Amakhosi in 2018 from Mamelodi Sundowns and departed in 2023.

Despite the generous salary, Billiat’s on-field production at Chiefs fell well short of his Sundowns standards. In 126 appearances for Amakhosi, he managed just 24 goals and 29 assists—a stark contrast to the 48 goals and 43 assists he delivered in 144 games for Masandawana. His goal rate of 0.34 per game at Sundowns represented his career peak, during which he won three Betway Premiership titles and the 2015 CAF Champions League. At Chiefs, Billiat failed to add any silverware to his resume, drawing scrutiny over whether the club got value for its investment.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs are closing in on a top-three finish in the Betway Premiership after a 1-1 draw with Sundowns. A win at Sekhukhune United on Sunday would put them within touching distance of CAF Confederation Cup qualification, with five more points needed to secure third place. The club will be without midfielder Siphesihle Ndlovu due to suspension, while speculation swirls around a new contract for goalkeeper Brandon Petersen. The match kicks off at 17:30 live on DStv channel 202.
