Kaizer Chiefs fall to Siwelele to end 7-match unbeaten run

Kaizer Chiefs' impressive seven-match unbeaten run in the Betway Premiership came to an abrupt end on Wednesday night when they suffered a 2-0 defeat to Siwelele FC at the Toyota Stadium. The hosts made a devastating start, catching Amakhosi cold with Tebogo Potsane striking just seven minutes into the contest after reacting quickest to a rebound from Manelisi Mazibuko's initial effort. That early goal seemed to unsettle Chiefs, who appeared a step off the pace following their recent Soweto Derby outing. Siwelele built on their early advantage with growing confidence, continuing to push forward with clear purpose and threatening intent.

The visitors' second goal arrived in the 26th minute when Ghampani Lungu picked out Siphesihle Jeza, who calmly finished to register his first goal in professional football and give the hosts a commanding 2-0 lead heading into the interval. Kaizer Chiefs attempted to respond in the second half and enjoyed more of the ball, but struggled to create clear-cut chances against Siwelele's disciplined defensive shape. The hosts remained compact and difficult to break down, forcing Amakhosi into rushed decisions in the final third and ultimately proving costly in their quest to find the back of the net.

The defeat leaves Kaizer Chiefs in third position on the table, missing an opportunity to strengthen their position in the race for CAF Confederation Cup qualification, while Siwelele rise to ninth. Chiefs will face Mamelodi Sundowns away on Wednesday 6 May, while Siwelele host Durban City in Bloemfontein on Tuesday 5 May.
