Mamelodi Sundowns are set to receive an estimated R56.15 million from FIFA after Bafana Bafana secured qualification for the second round of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. South Africa’s famous 1-0 win over South Korea featured a host of Sundowns players, with the CAF Champions League holders contributing eight representatives to Hugo Broos’ squad. Those players are Ronwen Williams, Khuliso Mudau, Khulumani Ndamane, Aubrey Modiba, Teboho Mokoena, Jayden Adams, Iqraam Rayners and Themba Zwane. Because of this deep involvement, Sundowns have become one of the biggest beneficiaries of FIFA’s Club Benefits Programme, which rewards clubs for releasing players to the global tournament.
FIFA’s compensation model is based on a player’s official inclusion in the World Cup squad, meaning clubs are paid regardless of whether the player starts matches or features from the bench. The projected payout to Sundowns has climbed to around R56.15
